KOH PHA NGAN  more famous for it’s full moon parties than anything else, there is the chance to dive here as well. Probably THE backpackers island with outstanding beaches, but don’t look for any bargains during the monthly parties. While there are sites within easy reach of the island itself, the visibility is normally poor, but longer trips are offered to the sites near Koh Tao & Koh Samui

All local diving is from longtail boats but long journeys to the sites of Samui & Koh Toa use large boats owing to the long journey times

WHERE TO STAY

There is a lot a of accommodation available but at times of the full moon parties accommodation can be impossible to find.

TAKE ME THERE

Ferries run from Surat Thani, subject to the weather during the monsoon season.

Surat Thani is reachable by bus and train  from Bangkok and parts of the south. Buses run from all major towns.
