DIVE SITES

1  King Cruiser Wreck

A large car ferry that sunk on the way to Phi Phi. Now almost collapsed but still worth a swim under the hulls, although at 30 meters you need to watch your air.

5  Racha Yai

A large island offering many different dive sites normal the farther south part is dived October till May (high season) and the less spectaaron Rocks

A short ride away incular north side  in the low season. Easy dive sites with lots of coral

2  Shark Point

Home to the Leopard Shark and some fine coral. Actually three separate reefs which on days of good visibility, can be seen, otherwise you need a compass or a good divemaster!  Normal dived together with 1 or 2 of the other sites as part of a day trip.

3   Anemone Reef

A site very close to Shark Point and similar underwater features; even leopard sharks are seen here. The reef is totally submerged and, as it name suggests, is covered with sea anemones together with their accompanying clown fish. Lots of fish and huge fan corals.

4  Koh Doc Mai

Means 'Flower Island'. You will not see any flowers on this vegetation cover island, but they refer to the soft coral blow the water. Definitely my best dive site in Phuket and rumoured to have seahorses! There is even a cavern allowing easy entry, although at 20 meters you need to be careful and don't go up the chimney unless you have a torch, reel and know what you are doing!

6  Racha Noi

The smaller twin to Racha Yai. Deep diving with strong current with possibility of large palegics. Not a commonly dived site you will need to shop around to book this one.

7 Kata Reef

A easy shore dive from Kata beach. Not all shop as offer beach diving so you may need to shop around for these. Took damage during the tsunami but still an nice easy dive with lots to see and with maximum depth only 10 meters it is heavily used for training.

8 Karon Rocks

A short ride away in a Thai long tail boat, a group of very large boulders harbouring lots of fish life. Schools of fish circle the rocks with morays and lion fish

9 Koh Pu

This is the small island that you can see from Kata & Karon beaches. It has good coral and the far side is a boulder strewn area with swim throughs

Koh Bon & Similans

Although these sites, particularly Koh Bon known for mantas, are available as day trips from Phuket, it is a long day. Typically leaving your hotel at 6:300-7:00 am returning around 9:00pm. For dive details see the similans section.
