LOGISTICS
Diving is what Koh Tao is all about! There is an abundance of near by dive sites and definitely something for everyone. Owing to it's location, diving is possible year as one side or other will be sheltered from the current monsoon.
If you don’t dive you’ll probably wont find anything to talk about with 99% of the people here!
WHERE TO STAY
Most accommodation are in the forms of bungalow resorts, a lot of which have the own dive shop attached. Some resorts can be fairly basic but more upmarket ones are slowly appearing. Electricity is not constant and often supplemented by generators which are turned off at night.
The price of accommodation may vary whether you are diving with the resort or not!
TAKE ME THERE
Koh Tao lacks an airport, the closest you can fly to is Koh Samui and get a boat from there.
Other ferries leave from Chumphon and Surat Thani. Weather in the monsoon seasons has been known to delay arriving/departing boats and a couple have sunk!
YOU ARE LOOKING AT DIVING IN KOH TAO, THAILAND. DEFINITELY A ‘DIVERS ISLAND’! PROBABLY THE CHEAPEST PLACE TO LEARN TO DIVE, AND THE MORE YOU DIVE THE CHEAPER IT IS!
KOH TAI Best known for it's scuba diving and laid back lifestyle, Koh Tao does have a lot of excellent diving. Accommodation is mostly bungalows some of which are fairly basic and electric is often by generators and usually restricted to evenings. Even with the many bungalow resorts, accommodation can still be a problem over Xmas and New Year. Some accommodation still has only the bare minimum, but more up market resorts are slowly appearing.
