YOU ARE LOOKING AT DIVE SITES IN MALAYSIA. MALAYSIA HAS TWO SECTIONS WEST, OR MAINLAND, MALAYSIA CONNECTED TO THAILAND AND EAST WHICH IS A PART OF THE ISLAND OF BORNEO

Diving is possible all year around

Rainy season on mainland Malaysia is Oct-April which can affect ocean travel & diving

East Malaysia is not so badly affected by the monsoons

VISAS

Most nationalities get 3 months free visa on entry (which is a bargain in Asia these days!)

PAYAR

The only diving on the side of Malaysia. Daytrips leave from Langkawi

SERIBUT ARCHIPELAGO

Very similar to Tioman but not so crowded

LABUAN  ( Sarawak)

Some WWII wrecks and a couple of more recent wrecks

SEMPORNA ( Sabah)

Recommend for macro photography and long dive times

KAPAS

Shallow diving and a good place to learn

REDANG

Several islands surrounded by fine coral with spectacular diving

TUNKU ABDUAL RAHMAN

A national park just off Kota Kinabalu

KUCHIN ( Sarawak)

A newly started dive operation, not for the novice!

WEST COAST DIVE  SITES

DIVING IN MALAYSIA

EAST COAST DIVE SITES (BORNEO)

PERHENTIANS

World class diving around the these islands.

LAYANG LAYANG  (Sabah )

Excellent diving, but pricey to stay here. Liveaboards run from Sabah

SIPDAN ( Sabah )

World class diving, but not cheap as you must stay at the dive resort

TIOMAN

Great diving and suitable for non divers as well

MIRI ( Sarawak)

A good wreck dive but otherwise not much for the experienced diver

One of the excellent Marco photography opportunities offered from Semporna

TAKE ME THERE

International flights from Europe will probably go to Kuala Lumpur, from Asia other options are available either to other towns in Malaysia or into Sabah and Sawarak. Land crossing from Singapore and Thailand, and possible from Kalimanta in Indonesia

MALAYSIA AT A GLANCE

LEARNING TO DIVE

Most areas offer PADI training, the Perhentians & Tioman being popular for the Open Water course (learn to dive)
